Happy Endings and New Beginnings

2017 will always be my most memorable year. It was the year that I became a mother. It was a year of love, loss, and transition. It was the year I lost my grandmother, the woman who taught me so much about motherhood. Fortunately for me, she was able to pass along her life lessons in time for me to welcome my beautiful daughter, Scotlyn Rose. My grandma passed away just twelve days after Scotlyn’s birth.

Before having my daughter, I was focused on blogging about fashion. During the last few months of my pregnancy, I took some time off to care for my grandma (who was like a second mother to me) which were some of the hardest but best months of my life. I cherished every moment we spent together and learned so much about courage, faith, and raising a family from her.

After having Scotlyn, I thought it would just be a short time before I was fully back on board with blogging. I found it took me a little longer to get back into the swing of things and realized that having a baby was a much bigger change than I could have ever imagined or anticipated.

When life started to feel like our “new normal”, I found that I was anxious to get back into blogging but had a hard time wanting to solely focus on fashion like I had for the past few years. Don’t get me wrong, I definitely still want to share outfit inspiration but I want to share other parts of my life too. I want to engage on other topics including motherhood, home decor, travel, beauty, and just life in general. Given I’ll be sharing more than fashion, you’ll also be receiving my updates under a new name, Brie Bemis Rearick. A new outlet for me to express my creativity in all aspects of my life. The good, the bad, and the not-so picture perfect.

Kicking off 2018, my hope is that I’ll be able to strike the right balance between family, work, a social life, and most importantly raising my daughter.

So what can you expect on the blog moving forward?

A new post every Wednesday: Starting today, I’ll have a new blog post up every Wednesday. Quality > Quantity is my new motto around here!

Words: Believe it or not, the reason I started my blog way back when (6 years ago!) was because I love fashion AND writing. I wanted an outlet to express my creativity and I look forward to sharing and exchanging more with each of you.

Real life stuff: That doesn’t mean that I’ll be making this my personal diary, but I’ll be sharing more of my daily life and random thoughts. I want you to get to know me and I want to get to know you!

Outfit inspiration: I look forward to continuing to share my outfits with you. If you’re mainly looking for styling tips and outfit inspiration, be sure to follow me over on Instagram. I’ll be posting much more of my fashion tips there but you’ll still find some of it here as well!
