Good Morning friends! How is it already Monday? I feel like this weekend flew by! I was having a really good day on Saturday and didn’t feel sick at all and we had the best day ever. We didn’t do anything totally out of the ordinary but it was just a really good family day. We started the morning at Scottie’s new sports class that she does with Colton. It’s with kids ages 1.5-2.5 and it was the cutest and most hysterical thing to watch. Afterwards, we headed to the farmers market and stocked up on some of our favorite items. We also watched my little brother play in his first flag football game and he did so good and scored a few touchdowns! After Scottie’s nap, we set up the kiddie pool and water table and my sister and niece came over to play outside. We ended the night watching Scottie’s favorite new movie, The Good Dinosaur.
Anyways, since it’s been 6 weeks since my last update, I thought I’d update you on how things have been going. I’ll also be announcing the gender of baby #2 on Thursday so be sure to check back for that!
How far along: 22 weeks & 6 days
Baby size: A coconut! (roughly 10.9 inches and 15.1 ounces)
Gender: We found out at 17.5 weeks and will be sharing on the blog later this week!
Movement: Yes, finally! I thought I had been feeling flutters but they weren’t consistent at all, like every few days, so I’m not really sure. At 21 weeks exactly I started feeling kicks consistently and I absolutely love it! I can’t wait for the kicks to get stronger and watch my belly get contorted during those crazy kicking sessions, lol.
Symptoms: So many this pregnancy! It seriously blows my mind how different pregnancies can be! I’m still nauseous almost everyday but some days are much worse than others. Thankfully, I do have days now where I feel pretty normal and definitely don’t take those days for granted. At this point, I’ve pretty much accepted I’ll probably be nauseous until baby arrives.
Physical changes: I feel like I’m growing everywhere this time around. I also have super dry patches of skin on my face that have been there since the first trimester. If you have any pregnancy safe suggestions, please send them my way!
What I Miss: Sleeping on my stomach! And wine. And not needing to use the restroom every 30 minutes — I’m carrying this baby so much lower than I was Scottie!
Food cravings: Still drinking lots of lemonade, the sourness helps to settle my nausea. I’m also craving vanilla ice cream cones from McDonald’s but trying to limit that to like once a week because dairy seems to upset my stomach more.
Food aversions: Thankfully not too many anymore. I’ve been staying away from starchy carbs (which is all I could eat during my first trimester) and limiting my dairy because I’ve found they irritate my stomach now and make me feel super bloated.
What we’re most excited about: Meeting baby for the first time and seeing Scottie as a big sister! She is so obsessed with babies and I just can’t wait to see her meet her new baby sibling for the first time. Even though this pregnancy has been a lot harder I know how absolutely worth it the reward at the end of it all is and that’s what I’m focusing on.
What we’re least excited about: The waiting is the hardest/least exciting part for me right now!
Favorite Maternity Clothes:
I just bought my first pair of maternity shorts ever and they’re so comfy! I could get by without them during my first pregnancy because Scottie was born in May but there’s no way I’m making it through mid-July without shorts this time! I got my pre-pregnancy size and they fit great.
I lived in these maternity tank tops during my first pregnancy and am re-wearing them during this one. They’re super comfy and cover the bump and they’re only $10!
I love this maxi skirt from PinkBlush Maternity. It reminds me of Free People for a fraction of the price! The model styled it below the bump but I actually wore it above the bump last weekend and loved it styled that way.
Other than the items mentioned above and workout clothes or loungewear, I’m pretty much living in stretchy non-maternity dresses. I love this one and this one and like to style them with kimonos during the Spring. I just got this one and this one and am obsessed with both!
