Hi friends! I figured it’s about time I share Scottie’s 2nd safari birthday party photos…considering she’ll be 3 in May! Quick explanation as to why I’m just now getting these up: I was nauseous my entire pregnancy with Sawyer and last May was a crazy busy month. We went on two week-long trips, celebrated Scottie’s birthday, and all three of us got sick. So between just not feeling well in general and all of the craziness, I was ready to slow down by the end of the month and just enjoy as much one-on-one time with Scottie as I could before Sawyer’s arrival. I decided to wait until now to post them in case you need some spring/summer birthday party inspiration, since it’s right around the corner!
I decided on the “Two Wild” safari birthday theme because Scottie loves animals and going to the zoo. At the time, she was obsessed with watching The Lion King and carried her little stuffed animals all over the house with her. I ended up using a few to decorate the table!
One of my favorite things about Scottie’s first birthday party that I’ll continue to incorporate year after year is the giant photo collage. I made it with photos of her from the last year and turned it into a poster and framed it. It’s been a big hit at both of her birthday parties and I can’t wait to make another one this year!
My amazingly talented friend Jackie made Scottie’s beautiful birthday cake! I gave her full creative control and just told her the theme and colors I wanted incorporated. To say she totally blew me away would be an understatement! If you’re local, she owns a home based bakery (Cake This AZ!) with the most beautiful cakes and cookies. I can absolutely attest to the fact that they taste just as good as they look! I hire her for all of our special occasions and her cakes are always the talk of the party. She did Sawyer’s baptism cake (see here) and my baby sprinkle cake (see here) too.
Since it’s already pool weather here in May, I set up a few play pools and a water table for the kids to play in. Scottie loved the jungle one and it fit the safari birthday theme perfectly.
Lots of guests showed up in animal print outfits! My sister, mom, and I all matched in leopard without planning to.
Scottie and her bestie, Ava, enjoying their cake pops!
I found Scottie’s dress on Amazon and just tied leopard ribbon to the straps to go with the theme of the party.
